About Sarah
I am Sarah Thorpe. I am an HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist with a wealth of experience working with people suffering symptoms beneath the vast umbrella of mental health. I have worked in a variety of nationally recognised professional settings such as the NHS and HM Prison and Probation Service. Alongside working with organisations I run a private practice.
- I am qualified as an MA Art Psychotherapist after having trained at the University of Roehampton.
- I have also trained with the Institute of Group Analysis in Reflective Practice.
- I am trained and currently practice EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).
My therapeutic approach is influenced by psychoanalysis, conscious and unconscious processes. The theoretical understanding of attachment theory and trauma models inspires me within my practice. I use a broad eclectic range of other person-centered approaches such as psycho-educational, mindfulness and mentalization based treatments, compassion focused therapy, and solution focused interventions. Whilst reflecting cultural and social diversity.
